A story to discover
Discover the world of Opportune 1791 Rums through episodes of Opportune Bésub's life and historical events of her time.
Opportune was born as a slave in the North of Martinique, in 1791.
A beautiful and rebellious woman, Opportune is a symbol of freedom and resilience.
The brand is based on a true story and anecdotes. Discover them on our bottles.
Below, Opportune's Official registration document as a French citizen.
We produce bold blends of white rums, aged rums, rums of different origins, pure cane juice rums and molasses rums, as long as it awakens new horizons to our gustatory and olfactory receptors.
Our rums represent an invitation to travel. We wish to share with as many people as possible the opportunity to discover the "lands of rum" and their history.
We invite you to discover a wide range of rums reflecting different traditions and countries, like the cachaça from Brazil or the Singles casks. Aged rums by the solera method, traditional French, English and Hispanic rums. Rums from Barbados, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Trinidad, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Venezuela, Guyana, Mauritius. And many more are on the way.
Stay tuned, as all roads lead to Rum.
The brand OPPORTUNE 1791 does not claim an identity, but represents the image of FREEDOM. That of a "djok" woman ("strong character": a Martinican expression), who, by her resilience, knew how to carry her people towards a better future.
The OPPORTUNE 1791 brand wishes to contribute to women's lives, to access to education, water and electricity.
This will be done by getting involved in actions in partnership with associations and NGOs.
Long live OPPORTUNE 1791 rums !
Phil Madkaud, founder of the brand and direct descendant of Opportune.
